You’ve already learned the basics in drawing, but there are tricks which can make you much faster. We’ll discuss them here.
Drawing Straight Lines
To get a straight line, you'll need to add it first. Next, start moving the handle you just added, then hold down on Shift. You'll notice the handle will "snap" one or both of the connected lines in 45-degree angles, depending where you move the handle. Release the mouse when the line is where you want it. This feature should make more sense when you try it.
Adding Handles on a Line
Say you just drew a square-sized piece of property, and you notice there’s a dent in one side of the property border that you want the shape to follow. You could use Undo
or Erase
and redraw it, or you can do it the easy way. Hold down on the Shift key, press your mouse on the line you want to change, and drag the new handle to where you want it. That’s the easiest way of solving that problem.

Deleting Handles
Say you just drew a shape and decide you want to get rid of a few of its handles. You could use Undo or Erase, or you could just hold down on the Ctrl key and click on the handles you want to eliminate.

Drawing Paths
Say you want to measure the length of a path you drove. To do this, go into the Mode menu at the top of the window and click Path Drawing Mode. That will turn it on. Now you can just draw your path by clicking, and PlatSketch will show its length.
