Here we’ll list all of the ways PlatSketch can measure for you.
- Just look at the bottom of the window to see the perimeter/length and area
- Hold your mouse over the Perimeter or Area for a second to see it in all the units of length
- Hold your mouse over a line, and the line length and line angle will appear
- To have length, area, and image information neatly displayed, go into the View menu and click on the Information Toolbox. That will make a box appear which will show all the measurements for whatever you’re doing. Just click the X to get hide it again.
- To quickly measure the length of a curve, go into the Mode menu and click Merge Close Angles Mode. Now hold your mouse over the curve, and the whole curve will highlight if it’s smooth enough. The length will appear at the bottom of the window.

Merge Close Angles
- Here’s the most powerful measuring tool, the Line Calculator
mode. Click on this tool, and your mouse will turn into a + with a circle around it. Drag this tool over lines, and the added lengths of the selected lines will appear at the bottom of the window. They will also be added in printouts of the map. You can also hold down Shift and drag to subtract. Now that you’re done, you can click back to the Add Points
mode.
